Re: 3 Seconds/Shooting Space

Q. If a defender is marking a player directly behind the goal from in front of the crease, is that player subject to 3 seconds and shooting space rules?

A. The defender player marking the player behind the net is not subject to the 3 second rule - BUT she has to mirror the player behind the net.  i.e. if the girl shifts from the left side to right side - she must mirror that movement from left to right.  If the player is directly behind and the player is marking her (has eyes on - should triangulate but should not turn around) then she is not in shooting space.  She WILL be in shooting space if she turns around to defend the oncoming attacker and tries to close the space directly in front of her.
